DeeAnne Ashcroft, RDH, BSDH, LAP, MPH: "The Latest Buzz on Bisphosphonates"

Mrs. Ashcroft is the Dental Hygiene Program Director at Carrington College, and is the author of a February 2007 ACCESS article on "The Dental Hygiene Ramifications of Bisphosphonates." DeeAnne has presented this topic at several components and at both Pacific University and OIT Dental Hygiene programs. This presentation will provide an update regarding the most recent developments regarding the use of this particular class of drugs.

Christina Tselnik, RDH, BSDH: "Nicotine Dependence"

Mrs. Tselnik is a faculty member in the Dental Hygiene Department of Carrington College. She is committed to the Portland Component as our SADHA Liaison and has taken a special interest in the topic of Nicotine Dependence. Christina has recently completed a Nicotine Dependence training course at the University of Massachusettes Medical School. This presentation will introduce participants to the 5 stages of change in addiction dependance counseling, including the recognition, the goals and the specific approaches with each stage of dependence. Participants will learn how to provide an effective three minute intervention, applicable for all health professionals, within both clinic and public health settings.

Mary Lontchar, RDH, MA, Academic Director P&G Oral Care: “Evidenced Based Dental Hygiene Decision Making”

Mrs. Lontchar has been both a practicing Dental Hygienist and an educator in a Dental Hygiene Program.  She now supports Dental Hygiene Education in a new role.   Mary is a charming speaker and will help renew your commitment to decision making, using the evidence based model to ensure effective treatment, therapy and product choices.
