Dental Hygiene Education Programs Exempt From Naming A Dental Director

In 2013 Senate Bill 802 amended the Oregon Dental Practice Act to define “Dentist of record” as a dentist that either authorizes treatment for, supervises treatment of or provides treatment for a patient in a dental office or clinic owned or operated by specified institutions. This bill also exempted institutions or programs accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation from naming an actively licensed dentist as their dental director. The bill requires these institutions or programs to maintain a list of dentists of record and to provide this list to the Oregon Board of Dentistry when requested. This bill was introduced at the request of the Oregon Community College Association.
