This course will provide an overview of the DDH Compact developed by the Council of State Government and discuss how you can advocate further for this legislation in Oregon.

Course Objectives: 
  • Discuss how interstate compacts can reduce barriers to license portability for healthcare workers. 
  • Discuss compact privilege and how this will allow dentists and dental hygienists to practice in participating states. 
  • Discuss how to advocate for the DDH Compact legislation.

Course 2: Empowering Dental Hygienists to Advocate for Your Profession
7:30 pm to 8:30 pm (1 CE)

Dental hygienists can play a critical role in professional advocacy because they are uniquely qualified to serve as an expert resource for policy makers. This program will provide knowledge and skills to enable you to effectively advocate for your profession. 

Course Objectives: 

  • Discuss how dental hygiene is regulated on a state level. 
  • Describe how to effectively advocate with your state legislature, your state board of dentistry, and your state governor.
  • Discuss tips for successful advocacy.

Dental Hygienists, Dental Therapists/Dental Health Aide Therapists, and Dental Assistants

 

About the Speaker:
Lisa J. Rowley has dedicated her career to allied dental education and professional advocacy. Lisa was the founding director of a BS degree dental hygiene program that prepares graduates to work as direct care providers for underserved patients in non-traditional settings. She is also the Advocacy Director for the Oregon Dental Hygienists' Association and has worked in professional advocacy on the state and national level.
