Nitrous Oxide and Oxygen Sedation in Adults and Children

Join us for a joint Northwest and High Desert Component Webinar CE Event!


Topic: Safely and effectively managing pain and dental anxiety through inhalation sedation. This 2-hour continuing course will provide dental professionals with a review on nitrous oxide and oxygen sedation in the dental office. 


Course Objectives:

 

  • Recognize methods for assessing and measuring fear and anxiety.
  • Identify the indications and contraindications for the use of nitrous oxide sedation
  • Discuss the advantages, disadvantages, and complications of nitrous oxide sedation
  • Understand current nitrous oxide/oxygen sedation practice guidelines in the State of Oregon
  • Implement workplace monitoring, safety guidelines, and recommendations per OSHA/NIOH.


Speakers:
 

Gail Aamodt

 

Gail joined Pacific University as a full-time faculty member and clinical education coordinator in July 2006. She previously taught in the dental hygiene programs at Northern Arizona University and the Oregon Health Science University, School of Dentistry. She has more than 35 years of experience as a clinical dental hygienist, having worked both in private practice and in a managed care organization. Her areas of expertise and interest include dental therapy, clinical dental hygiene, learner-centered education, and educational opportunities for dental hygiene educators. 

 

Gail is an active member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association and the American Dental Education Association. She is also a member of Sigma Phi Alpha, the national dental hygiene honor society, holding faculty membership in the Delta Delta Xi chapter. 

 

Gail enjoys helping students work to their potential while keeping perspective in their lives. She is committed to providing a positive educational experience where learning and life coincide.

 

 

Mónica Sarmiento

 

Mónica joined Pacific University as a part-time clinical instructor in August 2017 and became a full-time co-faculty member in July 2018. She works three days a week as a clinical instructor in and teaches the Pain Management course in the summer. On the other two days of the week, Mónica works as an expanded practice dental hygienist for Virginia Garcia Dental Clinic, providing direct patient care and overseeing students on external rotations.

 

Mónica is a member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association and of the national dental hygiene honor society, Sigma Phi Alpha. In her free time, Mónica enjoys Latin dancing, the outdoors, and spending time with family and friends.

 

 

Location: This CE course will be conducted as a Zoom Meeting.

CE Offered: 2 CEU credits

ADHA Members: Free
Non-member Hygienists, Assistants and Dentists: $50

Cancellation Policy: No refunds will be provided within three weeks of an event. Individual requests will be considered by the Board of Directors and will be denied if the nature of absence cannot be verified or is not of a serious enough nature.
