Human Trafficking and Suicide Prevention

Speaker:  Michelle Kennedy RN, BSN, CEN

Bio - Michelle is a nurse and has been working in the Emergency Department and has experience at a surgery center and as a clinical instructor through Linfield's nursing program. She has been working with survivors of sex trafficking for seven years and for the last six years has given presentations on sex trafficking to health care providers, educators, and community groups.

Time: 7:00 - 9:00 pm

Location: Zoom Meeting

Course Description:  This lecture will discuss sex trafficking in our region and examine causes of trafficking as well as how we can respond as citizens. It will also examine how to identify survivors of trafficking as they come in contact with healthcare professionals and appropriate responses and referrals.

Objectives:

1)To verbalize the role and frequency of sex trafficking occurring in the Portland Metro area

2) To identify risk factors for being trafficked

3)Identify how to reduce instances of trafficking in our community

4) How to identify survivors of sex trafficking in a professional setting

5) Verbalize appropriate referrals and resources for survivors
